is a community-based program that creates shared pride, respect, and responsibility in Camden neighborhoods while transforming “blight to bright!” Block Supporters keep the front and back of their properties clean, beautify the front of their homes, help care for vacant lots, and participate in community meetings. This program was founded by Camden resident Benigno Rodriguez in 2004 and has been in North Camden since 2015, with Mr. Rodriguez leading all efforts. is a billboard campaign that replaces negative advertising with positive messaging and information sharing on six North Camden billboards. Tired of seeing ads for funeral homes, debt collectors, cheap/quick divorce, and alcohol? CLHI started “Change the Message” to inspire and uplift North Camden residents, share resources, and promote community events. is a summer program that started in 2014, stabilizing and securing derelict abandoned properties in the North Camden neighborhood by cleaning the exterior and boarding and painting. Each summer, The Neighborhood Foundation from Chicago comes to Camden to lead a crew of local workers to beautify some of our most blighted vacant properties.
